Adding color and visuals makes planning more fun.
Here are two fun sources for free printables to use with your planner or journal.
Both offer a variety of free sheets that you can download and print out. Then it's cut and paste. I use
adhesive sheets for that. You can back your 8 1/2 x 11 downloaded page with it then cut out what you want, peel off the barrier paper and stick it in your journal or calendar.

A writing prompt is an easy way to stimulate new thinking on a project and it doesn't even need to be a writing project.
You could be creating a workshop or planning a birthday party or anything else that could use a creative bump.
Give it a try.
Here's a writing prompt excerpted from the F A M E Cards, one of many creative tools we carry in the store.
Choose a random word and write that word 100 times and note the flow of images
I did it and the images surprised and delighted me. Images have a way of being a step ahead of you on your journey and bring such a wealth of metaphor.
Have fun with this!
